Meet Luan You

Luan was looking for a place he could grow and develop professionally. But he was also after a healthy work-life balance so he could indulge in his love for the outdoors. He found it at Beca.

Luan is all about variety, both in his work and home life. As a software engineer, he’s not afraid to try new things – a great approach that’s been tested on a variety of projects ever since he joined us in 2015.

Originally from China, Luan moved to Christchurch with his family when he was eight. When he was 16, they moved to the city lights of Auckland. Here, he ended up graduating from the University of Auckland with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Technology – Information Technology. With a passion for technology and learning, he won the Institute of Engineering and Technology prize during his course.

Luan’s already enjoyed many career highlights, including working on the Queensland rail track access system – a system designed and built from scratch.

Not just a high achiever in the office, Luan makes every minute count in his leisure time, too. Like being the proud owner of a classic Rolls Royce that he hires out for weddings. And completing half marathons and an epic bike ride from Rotorua to Taupo.
