Delivering a new level of care for the Southern region

This New Dunedin hospital replaces the majority of the existing city campus. For continuity, the existing hospital will be kept operational and will be built in stages to enable the Outpatient building to be operational as early as possible.

The New Dunedin hospital will be built in two stages.

1. Outpatient Building includes:
   • Outpatient services
   • Clinic rooms
   • Day Procedures Unit
   • Planned radiology.

2. Inpatient Building includes:
   • Emergency Department
   • Operating Theatre Suite and short stay surgical unit
   • dedicated Primary Birthing Unit
   • ICU and High Dependency Beds
   • inpatient wards.

The new digital hospital will utilise integrated technology leading to greater efficiency, reducing unnecessary delays, providing a better experience for patients and whanau.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are front of mind. The project will deliver a sustainable built environment and is committed to a 5-Star Green Star rating, recognised as ‘New Zealand Excellence’.
