Sydney needs more trains and more services to meet the needs of a growing global city.

That’s why Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) devised the Operational Blueprint project (as part of Stage 1 of the More Trains, More Services Program) – a customer-centric approach to developing new rail services for Sydney’s rail network. These improved rail service solutions responds to increasing rail passenger demand, network constraints and committed projects, including Sydney Metro Northwest.

Beca supported a robust, evidence-based process to address the complexity of the project and comply with assurance requirements. The project was a multi-disciplinary effort across a number of Transport divisions. The inputs were complex and required a simplified approach to clearly communicate and justify the changes to the preferred rail service solutions. We coordinated the inputs required for decision making, facilitated the optioneering to develop preferred solutions and supported stakeholder engagement.

Beca also provided visualisation and technical writing services, including a visual management centre and an interactive summary document to capture the outcomes of the process.

Working together

It’s been a pleasure to support RPD over the last two years. It’s not often you get to work alongside your client and be involved in a project from conception through to (almost) completion
